We were lucky enough to be part of this very special wedding late last year. Emily was a very beautiful bride and her warm heart and kind nature shines through in every image from her wedding day. We created the ‘Fleur’ Bertossi Brides gown for Emily from a soft French lace with Cappuccino pure silk underlay. It was perfect for their fun filled, country wedding filled with laughter and love.
We asked Emily for some pearls of wisdom to help ‘brides to be’ planning their weddings.
What was your favourite part of your wedding day? Most cherished moment?
When I close my eyes and remember our special day, I get a sense of feeling in the pit of my stomach. I feel myself turning around in the room looking at all of the people in the room there for us, to share our special day. The feeling I have in my stomach is love. The love for all of the people in the room, the love they have for us and also the love that my husband and I share. Being able to feel the whole day like this is such a special time of year, one that many of us banned together for is something I will always cherish. We choose everyone (suppliers included) to be included for who we felt reflected our sense of family the most.
How did you chose your suppliers for your wedding day?
The supplies on our day were also carefully chosen to demonstrate the commitment James and I were making together.
My birth last name was Brockhurst. My father died unexpectedly when I was a little girl and Brockhurst was added into my last middle name so I would never loose it. When we found the venue we knew it was exactly what we were looking for. Our photographer was a family friend niece, the caterers were from a small country town my husband grew up in. The MC was ex army and my husband is in the army. The florist was the first florist my mother ever took me to. Essie (Hair) suggested Bec (make up) as they are friends and Essie has been doing my hair for 5 years. The cake maker makes the cakes for our kids for graduation (I am a teacher). The band we met at a friends wedding. I met you all at Bertossi Brides when I came in as a bridesmaid for my best friends wedding.
Any top tip you can give to brides to be planning their wedding?
Do what you and your husband to be want. Weddings can cause tension between family or friends. If you stay true to yourself and stick to that from the start things don’t blow up as much. At the end of the day your day is your day.
Anything you would do differently?
There isn’t much more I would do differently to be honest. Every little detail had thought and meaning behind it
Hello Gill and Anne
I wanted to write to say thank you for all of your help and support throughout the lead up to making my day so special! I first met you both when I walked in as a bridesmaid for my friends wedding. I was lucky enough to watch your magic unfold for Jordie’s wedding and when it came time for my wedding I new your family business was exactly what I needed for my special day.
As soon as I stepped in as a “bride” it felt like walking into a family home – your warm, nurturing and honest advice and support felt like being home. You welcomed my tribe of family and friends for different fittings and always accommodated exactly what I wanted.
During times of uncertainty in decisions for my dress you allowed for me to have time to think. You provided me to guidance but allowed space and time to make my own decisions.
When it came to collecting my dress just before the wedding I had lost some last minute weight (probably from the stress!) and you made last minute alternations to ensure that my dress was exactly how I dreamt of!
When it came to the day I was delighted to find a little hand written message inside my dress bag. My dress fit so perfectly and everyone commentated on just how gorgeous my dress was. The material was amazing and comfortable to wear and was exactly as I ever dreamt of. I danced the night away in my gown feeling carefree and comfortable!
Thank you again for everything you all did to help create my dream day! You both will always hold a special place in my heart when I think of our wedding day.
With much love
Emily Copeman
